An opt-in subscriber list, or mailing list is like gold to an Internet Marketer. The money is in the list. However, it has to be a clean, high quality list of targeted prospects and proven buyers. This is the list you can contact every time you have a new product. Tell them about it first and your sales campaign is away. Some gurus claim their lists are worth up to one dollar per month per subscriber. To build such a targets opt-in subscriber list, you can offer them a relevant free download on your website. It can be software, an ebook or short report, it can be audio or video or any item of real value to your website visitors. It's important that you provide a product of high perceived value to your visitors in return for their valuable email address. People already have their inboxes filled with emails on this and that offer every day, so in order to part with their email, you have to give them a good reason. Place the information on your download prominently on your site where everyone gets to see it. Link it to every single page on your site. That way, every visitor can find the download and have the opportunity to leave you their email address. Some of these people will become buyers at a later date. Finally, you have to promote your download. Write a short sales letter to go with your free download. Explain the benefits of your visitors taking their time and effort to type in their name and email, confirm then actually download the product. You would probably be surprised how many people can't be bothered making the effort. If you talk up your free download, people are more likely to read or use your download rather than burying it on their hard drive in the 'read later' collection. This is just one way to build an opt-in subscriber list, but there are many more.
