Always use pencil so you can erase and remark measurements if you need. Mark a spot about 3 inches above the floor and draw a level line. Now mark the floor's high point if it has one by measuring from the line you just marked to the floor. This is the high point. Now, mark a level line 34 1/2 inches. This line shows the top of your base cabinets. Next, mark the wall cabinets. Always check your measurements two or three times just to be sure.Next, use the stud finder and mark all the studs 6 inches underneath the bottom line for the wall cabinet. Draw a vertical line between these two points to mark your stud. Now, attach the 1-by-3 rail to the wall for temporary alignment.
