The Heart Of Leadership It ´s different strokes for different folks when it comes to leadership, too. Countless of books have been published about leadership styles. Some leadership styles content would focus on achieving organizational goals, while others guide leaders on how to effectively influence followers to accomplish or exceed objectives. Practical know- hows are expounded on such books as well, along with a wide range of leadership strategies and approaches. While these books and guidelines help a great deal in providing leadership knowledge, there is yet one vital component that makes leadership successful- the soul of leadership. For leadership transformation to truly take place, there has to be change inside and out for a leader. There is the seed of a leader in every person, and that kernel of light and courage within has to be nurtured and cared for to grow. Time comes, when leadership begins to grow, that it has to go through discipline and testing, until the true leader emerges. Suffice it to say that leadership is an inherent trait that process and circumstances bring out. If you want leadership to be solid and successful, you have to start working from within- from the heart. The Person In A Leader Explore your intrinsic motivations as a leader. How does your behavior impact your people and the organization as a whole? Different leadership styles have different purposes and outcomes. Charismatic leadership, for instance, creates loyalty in the followers, and they become passionate about the ideals of their leader. Transactional leadership, on the other hand, is more practical wherein urgent project goals have to be accomplished. Bonuses are one means to do so. In Southern Asia, a preferred leadership style is the humane- oriented leadership wherein achievement is based on collaboration. A Leader That Creates Satisfied Followers Different leaders use different leadership styles, but regardless of this diversity, the leaders´ intrinsic motivations and perceived outcomes while operating in the organization impact their leadership effectiveness. There is always the subjectivity of opinion laced with personal, cultural and ethical biases that affect leadership effectiveness. Despite ample research on this theory, however, studies have yet to come up with an accurate data of a universal set of leadership behaviors that will make leadership really effective. Then again, leadership scholar and author Gary Yuki pointed out a strong finding about leadership styles: considerate leaders have more satisfied followers. Satisfied followers then become motivated followers, which lead to desired organizational outcomes.
