But other then the copy for a Review site, a sales letter must obey some different rules. Check out here the 5 Copywriting Secrets to manage great copywriting. 1 - Plan your salesletter Before writing a single line of text, think about all details you will offer to your visitors over that sales letter. Be very precise and state in a easy understandable way all what matters, such as your price, if it's a one time charge or recurring, what bonus you offer and if this offer is limited or permanent, how you deliver your goods, what guarantees you offer etc. 2 - It's all about your customers It's your customer which has priority here. Think about the customers main problems, and offer a solution to those problems. That's your main goal with your sales letter. Nobody really cares about you or your online/offline business when they are reading your sales letter. A visitor likes to find a solution to his problem - and you better make it the best solution possible. That's it, believe me. Leave your company overview, last years sales figures and your personal statements for the "about us" page. 3 - Headlines are king It's very unlike that you can write only one Headline which fit's perfectly to your copy. You have to try out several headlines and drill down to stick with 3 to 5. The selected headlines have to be split tested to find out which one appeals most to your visitors. The quality of your headlines will be responsible for a conversion rate of 1%, or 5% ! That's a huge difference in revenue, so take your time and choose those headlines wisely. I recommend you take a look at newspapers and magazines to get ideas how to write good headlines, focused and to the point without to contain any hype. A good headline has between 4 to maximum 15 words. Remember to be specific, if you get "12% in return" then say so, and don't write "I'm getting over 10% in return". Again, no hype please as you will lose trust immediately. 4 - Write first, then edit I usually start with all headlines to get a draft for the flow, then I start to fill up the gaps. Just write and don't care about grammar or spelling. Only after you finish a block you go and edit each sentence a little. While you write it helps if you don't look at your monitor. Just focus on writing and
Slide 2: don't go and read each sentence. Let it flow..... After your draft is done you go and edit and correct all the errors you made. Read out your copy loud, this will help you to detect and correct phrases which don't make sense. 5 - The secret is in the size It's a fact that long sales letter convert better then short sales letters. There is proof that long sales letters convert better. People get in a trance like state reading a long copy and a sale or any other action is more likely the result. Visitors which leave the site early are anyhow not interested in what you offer, but those who read till the end will convert better if you have a long and detailed description of what you sell. But don't write long sentences and paragraphs. Your sales letter has to be easy to read. To do this you must use sub headlines and smaller sentences with just enough information to make the reader understand what the sentence is about or to make him want to read more. Each sub headline should be written in a way to draw the reader to the next sentence if he just like to skim over the copy. If you leave enough white space between short sentences you will help your reader to read the rest. Done - your sales letter draft should now be ready. Put it away for a day or so. When you go back and read your copy after a few days you will find mistakes and problem areas you didn't noticed before. Another option is to give your copy to someone for proofreading, asking a feedback if the copy did deliver the message you want to get over to the reader. Ask for a honest feedback as you have to improve the copy if there are problems with your flow and content. There is much more to copywriting marketing and I'm far from being a pro writer myself, but those tips help me so I hope they as well will help you to write a great salescopy.
