Slide 1: C A S E S T U DY Skelta BPM enables human and document centric process management for a Global Software Company's customers A global provider of enterprise software applications and services offers an innovative suite of software solutions targeted towards process manufacturers, and this includes an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), SCM (Supply Chain Management) and MES (Manufacturing Execution System) offering for the mid-market. The company offers a BPM module as an extension and a common platform to the ERP, SCM and MES offering of the company. Skelta BPM is embedded within the BPM module for context based process enablement, and works closely with the ERP, SCM and MES product offerings. OVERVIEW LOCATION: USA INDUSTRY: Enterprise Software (Manufacturing) PRODUCT: Skelta BPM SITUATION n Compliance Requirement n & Document Centric Process Support Human n Process-centric Enterprise Application extensions SOLUTION n Web-based platform THE SITUATION When planning for the BPM module, the company wanted to address these key market needs: n in human workflows Strength n Role-based task assignments nKPIs BAM/ nembeddable controls 100% n task delivery channels Multiple Compliance Requirement: Customers of the company needed to comply with strict statutory and industry regulations and show evidence of compliance on demand. For example, Food & Beverage, Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Aerospace and Defense industry customers need approvals from authorities at different stages in their operations and the management of these approval processes is cumbersome and expensive when out of control. BENEFITS n process cycle time Reduced n Increased efficiency & productivity n audit trail Extensive n modifications on the fly Process Human & Document Centric Process Support: Customers of the company wanted to automate these manual and error prone human and document centric processes to increase transparency, visibility & efficiency, and thereby mitigate process risk and non-compliance. Example areas include Procure-toPay (P2P) and Order-to-Cash (02C) processes in which documents often need to go through several rounds of collaborative approvals before final resolution. Such approvals, often carried out via email and tracked in spreadsheets are difficult to control and manage. Process-centric Enterprise Application extensions: Instead of customizing existing software like the ERP, SCM or MES systems to fit a specific business process, customers expressed a need to build process centric applications that had touch-points with existing software. Examples included Procurement, Requisitions, Work Order Management, Parts Fulfillment, Quality Control, Production Processes, Maintenance Processes, Supply Chain Processes, and IT Processes. After a market scan, the company decided to collaborate with a BPM vendor to embed process functionality into the Enterprise applications. The company's product suite is built on the Microsoft Platform and typically targets the small to mid-size process manufacturing market. The company was looking for a Microsoft platform based embeddable BPM product that was full featured, integrated with the company's product suite and be well suited for the mid-tier market.
Slide 2: THE SOLUTION The company evaluated several BPM vendors for vertical market exposure, ease of use, feature-set, success stories, technology platform, capability to be embedded seamlessly, usability and total cost of ownership. Powerful Business Activity Monitoring (BAM), with the ability for business users to develop Key Performance Indicators, empowering them to monitor and manage mission critical business processes. !
