Slide 1: ==== ==== for more info follow the link below http://peerfly.com/x/0/2008/67291/ ==== ==== Yesterday I played a few games one of them being Halo: Reach. Halo as a franchise isn't anything new to me. I bought a Xbox 360 with Halo: CE on launch day and never looked back. I played every Halo title through and through except Halo Wars. For this particular article I played a lot of Halo: Reach multiplayer yesterday. Online cooperative campaign, Team Slayer, Invasion and Living Dead. I'm not super crazy about Halo like most people who play the multiplayer are. I however do enjoy it. Halo is a great franchise I give Bungie credit where credit is due. I always had respect for Bungie and Halo due to the fact they never sacrificed gameplay (soul of a game) for super graphics or putting 32 players on screen for competitive multiplayer. Since Halo: Reach was Bungie's last Xbox 360 Halo game I decided to play some multiplayer. If you don't know by now Halo: Reach is a sci-fi first person shooter developed by Bungie Software and published by Microsoft Game Studios. Since this is a Free Gaming article I can pretty much write about what I want regarding Halo: Reach. Halo: Combat Evolved is the greatest game that any "Xbox" system ever had. That came out of left field didn't it? I do believe Halo: Reach has the second best single player story campaign behind Halo: Combat Evolved (for a Halo game). One thing I always wanted to try in Halo: Reach was the online co-op campaign. When the game first released matchmaking for the story campaign wasn't available. I have beaten the story by my self on Legendary. So yesterday I was finally able to play some Halo: Reach in 4 player co-op and it was nice. The Cooperative matchmaking didn't take too long maybe a few minutes to find 3 other players. I set all of my search parameters for quick match finds. I haven't played Halo: Reach in so long but it didn't take long for me to grasp the feel and speed of the game. Before I knew it we were running through a mission in the campaign (4 people). I was driving a Warhog while other players manning the guns or stole Covenent vehicles to blast away. The pace was fast when playing online co-op in Reach. Gamers know their way around this game so much its basically a killing spree when the difficulty is set to normal. The only complaint I had yesterday playing Reach in online story co-op is the connection issues with players. I honestly don't know if Reach uses dedicated servers or is it all peer servers. Anyways the connection got really choppy a few times while I played the Cooperative online component of Halo: Reach. Even with the connection issues Halo: Reach's story campaign was a blast to play. I have to gush over the streamlined menu interface and content related to Halo: Reach. There is so much to do when you're talking about multiplayer and its all easy to navigate. The main menu for multiplayer is called Matchmaking. Here you can find it all. You have Competitive which houses channels like Team Slayer, Living Dead, Team Swat, Invasion, Rumble Pit, Team Snipers, Team
Slide 2: Objective, Double Team and Big Team Battle. Yea I wrote all of that down, it just shows how much content is in just one menu "Competitive", but thats not all. Cooperative menu houses Co-op Campaign, Score Attack, Fire Fight, Fire Fight Doubles, Fire Fight Limited and Firefight Arcade. The last menu under Matchmaking is Community which has MLG, Team Classic, Action Sack, Grift Ball and DLC gamemodes. After writing that just now I feel compelled to purchase the Noble and Defiant DLC all of a sudden. Asides from all of the gamemodes in Halo: Reach you have stuff like weekly and daily Challenges that nets you achievements. The Armory lets you upgrade your Spartan in so many ways it will take a very long time to unlock them all. I like Living Dead matches. The premise is the infected (Covenant) try to infect the non infected (Spartans). Its a simple but fun gamemode. I just wish the skins looked like normal civilians and zombies so the match have more atmosphere. Its kinda weird being called a zombie when you look like an Elite. I did pretty good in one particular match in which I sorta camped out by an elevator (i hate camping out). There are so many different match types in Halo: Reach I need to try others. The matches I like are pretty addictive ala Living Dead being one. I played some Invasion which my team was getting owned hard. It didn't help that I was noob at Invasion either. I always respected Bungie for sticking to they're formula and not deviating from it. You will never see 32 player battles in Halo if it sacrifices the gameplay. Halo is an intimate fps. It deserves to stay that way. Halo 4 is in the works and the Halo: CE-A is releasing this November. Bungie didn't touch either of those projects so I wonder how they will turn out. I'm more interested in Halo 4 of course. That is obviously going to be a huge title. As for Halo: Reach, it was a blast to relax, sit back and get a few "Killing Sprees". Thanks for reading.
