First Steps
• Click on Databases link at
left.
• Select ERIC from list of
databases
• Sample research topic:
“I need to find articles on some aspect of reading in grades 1-3.”
Slide 4: Use the THESAURUS to identify the correct ERIC DESCRIPTORS (Subject Headings) related to reading
Slide 5: Use the THESAURUS again to find the descriptor “primary education” to represent Grades 1-3. Add this term as a second descriptor
Slide 6: To limit the search to research articles within a certain date, simply enter the year in the “Date Published” year box.
Limit results to “Journal Articles” here.
Scroll down through the “Publication Type” window & select Reports - Research
