Slide 9: The Ann Myers Medical Center  Training first life med students, nursing students and psychology students in a virtual world. Conducting medical and research collaboration with individuals worldwide. Medical consultations are available with RL board-certified Physicians and Psychologists AMMC is a part of the Sprott-Shaw College Training Center. The Ann Myers Medical Center was established to test the virtual possibilities in the training of RL medical and nursing students. Students will be primarily focusing on conducting proper history/physicals and becoming proficient at reading telemetry outputs.  
Slide 10: Healthinfo Island  Funded by the Greater Midwest Region of the National Network/National Library of Medicine (GMR NN/NLM) through a grant written by Lori Bell, of the Alliance Library System, Illinois, librarians at Healthinfo Island in Second Life explore the provision of consumer health information services in a virtual environment. The island is home to a consumer health library and a medical library, as well as virtual outposts or displays run by the National Library of Medicine's Special Information Services, contractors for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and our newest building, the Accessibility Center. Slide 11: Palomar West Hospital  The virtual hospital has been created to showcase the rich assortment of design and technology innovations planned for the real world Palomar West Medical Campus in San Diego, California, and to gather feedback that will be used to enhance the way that care is delivered. The immersive quality of Second Life allows visitors to experience the progressive ‘nature-embracing’ design of the hospital first hand. Visitors will also be able to experience ‘Connected Hospital’ technologies that will be delivered in the real hospital by Cisco.
Slide 12: Imperial College London Polyclinic Working in conjunction with the UK’s National Physical Laboratory (NPL), Imperial College London (ICL) has created a virtual hospital and a series of ‘machinima’ documentary films that describe what healthcare of the future could look like. This is an experimental, innovative and efficient means of communicating complex healthcare messages as well as illustrating what healthcare of the future could look like.
