Why is it that we, as human beings seem to wait until we have a catastrophe on our hands before we actually take action? Diet has become a huge part of the modern everyday life...period. Everywhere we turn, people are talking about some fad diet, eating plan or latest craze on weight loss... It's a vicious circle. We prod and poke at the idea of these diets and weight loss regimes, looking for a magic potion, quick fix or Band-Aid result for those extra pounds that quickly and mysteriously (almost like magic), crept on our bodies. Wondering how on earth our weight gain happened because we ate, drank and moved in some way, shape or form, right? We just won't own up to WHAT we ate, drank or HOW MUCH (or little) we moved. We know in our minds that most of these diets DO work when followed to the exact letter...Tens of thousands of people have had amazing results and continue to do so. So why is it necessary to create new style diets and eating plans? The world is changing at a fast pace with new technology but the human body isn't! Well the last time I looked it hadn't. We still have the same bone structure and organs etc.. our ancestors did. Yet, more and more diets and eating plans are being published, why? Simple Equation To stay healthy and function correctly we need to: 1. Eat good nutritional food 2. Drink water - at least 8 glasses 3. Move as in - Walk, Run, and Dance etc... OK, good. Easy as 1, 2, 3... So what's the problem? Why are we so reliant upon other people (diet gurus) showing us what we need to do to stay healthy? With new technology came a price... a hefty price! There are a record number of people overweight and the number is rising. With our busy lifestyles we rely on fast food, whether it be take-away, or packaged meals from a supermarket for us to plonk in the microwave and nuke it to an inch of its life. Yum! Here's a question...
Slide 2: If an alien craft invaded earth tomorrow, beamed up ALL the fast food places and took off at warp speed to a far off galaxy, leaving only the farmers markets would you; a) Scratch your head, fall to your knees, curl over and die b) Go buy some veggies and fresh produce and ask Aunt Maggie for her incredibly delicious Beef Burger recipe c) Throw your hands up screaming OMG!, rounding up everyone you know to build a rocket which will launch you into space to go find those little green buggers who stole your only food source. I know. You didn't see that one coming, it's OK, take your time. The Walt Disney movie Wall-e, portrays our future as leaving earth because it is bogged down with rubbish. All humans are obese and hovering around a spaceship in chairs. If you have seen it, you will know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, I suggest you watch it! Because people... we are fast approaching this picture!.. IF we don't take action now! We need to take control of our OWN actions and be responsible because from this day forward...OUR future and the future of our children and our children's children depend on it. Everything is good in moderation. There is no reason why we can't enjoy fast food, chocolate, slice of cake etc...Just not EVERYDAY (or worse 3-4 times per day). Yes...we are all guilty! We need to stop complicating our diets and get back to basics. It's our birth right to live life full of happiness, each and every one of us. This ain't no dress rehearsal. You see...the secret to diet and weight loss is - there is no secret, just good old fashioned common sense.
