Slide 1: LINK: http://www.t3.com/news/samsung-launches-a-trio-of-digitalcameras?=38148 Samsung launches a trio of digital cameras Compact cams that won't crunch your credit Samsung has announced the launch of a handful of new compact digital cameras that make last year’s models look like embarrassing hunks of prehistoric tech. View all images 'Beauty Shot' mode touches up the skin tones to make everyone look like healthy outdoorsy types instead of the sun-starved office dwellers they are Leading the charge is the new Samsung IT100, which boasts a 12-megapixel sensor and a 5x optical zoom, with a 28mm wide-angle lens. Its unique feature is the HD movie capture mode which, as the name suggests, lets you capture film in high definition. It also includes a patented ‘pause and re-record function’ which allows you to capture multiple parts of your home movie in a single file, presumably cutting out the annoyance of having to do all your editing from a computer later on.
Slide 2: Samsung IT100 also boasts a face detection mode, adjusting focus and exposure on the fly to ensure better composition and image quality for portraits. Blink and smile detection ensures that you get your shots when subjects are looking appropriately photogenic, while ‘Beauty Shot’ mode touches up the skin tones to make everyone look like healthy outdoorsy types instead of the sun-starved office dwellers they are. They’ll appreciate the gesture, we’re certain. Lower down the scale, you’ll find the 12-megapixel Samsung PL65 and the 10megapixel Samsung PL50. For these two, Samsung has rolled out a new ‘Smart Auto’ technology, which features 11 optimised picture pre-settings (Portrait, Night portrait, Macro, Macro Colour, etc) to help you get the best possible shot no matter what the lighting conditions are. A Smart Album feature is clearly designed for those who never remember to clean up their camera memory cards – Smart Album will help sort all your snaps into dates, content, colour, themes and shooting modes. Both cameras also sport the same face detection modes as the IT100. Samsung IT100 is available in silver, black or red and costs £229. It’s expected to reach retailers by April. The Samsung PL65 and PL50 cost £179 and £119 respectively. Colour options include black, pink and silver. The PL65 model also comes in dark grey. They’ll be arriving in March.
