Raw or steamed vegetables are always good to eat and can be made tasty with the right dressing, but do not forget organic vegetables - you can get good nutrition without pesticides and herbicides and prevent bad health side effects in the future. Want to lose 20 pounds? You may think just starving yourself will achieve your goal. It probably will, but for how long and at what cost? Statistics show that weight lost through crash diets of very low calories usually is regained within a few months. Weight lost slowly with a diet based on a good nutrition, takes longer but tends to stay off. Hopefully you will change your eating habits and have a better chance of continuing to eat correctly after you have seen the result. This will help you stay in shape after all the effort and will power it took to get there. Exercise is a major factor to stay in shape. There are things you can do everyday that will add to your activity without formal exercises or joining a gym. For example, take the stairs whenever you can, walk or ride a bike whenever possible, take a break, every hour or so from your desk and just move around to get the blood flowing again. Walk briskly 15-30 minutes every morning and evening. This is so easy and makes a huge difference in your energy levels as well. If you can carry some weight with you while you walk, it will be better for your bones and burn more calories. If you really want to stay in shape in the coming year, you need to make informed decisions about what you plan to do. Do not be vague, be specific. Plan your food, take time to exercise and be careful about fad diets that may make you unhealthy in the long run and not any thinner. Most of all, give yourself time. Do not expect results next week.
