Slide 1: “Enterprise Architecture is the discipline of understanding business needs and leveraging technology to satisfy them. It is the bridging of technology and business.” Architecture Development Architecting the Enterprise Enterprise Architecture Practice
Slide 2: Enterprise Architecture Practice “Enterprise Architecture continually effects and governs value-add changes at the enterprise level, while ensuring key stakeholders concerns and needs are addressed” Architectural Domains We provide architectural development services for all four architecture domains that are commonly accepted as subsets of an overall enterprise architecture, namely: Target (To-Be) Architecture We are able to define Target Architectures in terms of a set of building blocks and show how these building blocks fit together. The development of a Target Architecture may include several future states (Transition Architectures) developed as a roadmap to show the evolution of the architecture to the desired target state. Business Architecture Architectural Views and Viewpoints Information Architecture Constrains Application Architecture Technology Architecture We are able to identify and develop the relevant views and viewpoints required to address stakeholder concerns. A View represents set of related stakeholder concerns, and a viewpoint defines the perspective from which the view is taken, such as information about the architectural building blocks that should appear in the view:  Business Architecture defines the business strategy, governance, organization, and key business processes. Knowledge of the business architecture is a prerequisite for developing the other domains;  Information Architecture describes the structure of an organization’s logical and physical data assets and data management resources;  Application Architecture provides a blueprint for the individual application systems to be deployed, their interactions, and their relationships to the core business processes of the organization;  Technology Architecture describes the logical software and hardware capabilities that are required to support the deployment of business, data, and application services. This includes IT infrastructure, middleware, networks, communications, processing, standards, etc. Baseline (As-Is) Architecture We are able to provide a snapshot of the existing operational enterprise architecture that will serve as the basis for further development and change. A baseline specification is usually undertaken before entering a cycle of architecture review and redesign. Our approach to baseline specification is performed from the “bottom-up”, whereas our approach to Target Architecture development is “top-down”. Drives Architecture Building Blocks Building blocks specify the scope and approach that will be used to address a specific business problem and:  Are reusable, replaceable and well specified;  Conform to the enterprise principles and standards;  Can be (sub)assembled from/into other building blocks and have relationships with each other; Carl Barnes  0407 870 945  Carl.Barnes@IntelliSense.com.au www.IntelliSense.com.au twitter.com\EA_Practice
