Dates: Oct 6, 13, 20, 27; Nov. 4, 19, 17; Dec. 1, 8 Class will meet in room , Communications Building (Western Washington University Campus) Course Goals and Objectives:  This course is designed for experienced project managers who desire to be PMP® certified. It covers the comprehensive “Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge® “(PMBOK GUIDE) 4th Edition in preparation for the PMP® exam. The exam is based primarily on PMBOK.  This course also uses techniques and strategies from “Rita’s Course in a Book for Passing the PMP® Exam”.  The focus of this course is on understanding and integrating the nine key areas of project management. Successful project management involves the consistent application of proven processes, methodologies, and policies, and their management control, to ensure projects are completed within budget, on schedule, and with quality design, features, and functionality.  This course is a highly interactive combination of lecture, small group activities, review and discussion of real projects, and PMP® exam practice activities.  In addition to the 30-hour in-class mode, there will be additional resources available for individual and group study activities and for the PMP® application process. Course Outcomes:  You will have a comprehensive understanding of the nine key areas of project management, including the best practices promoted by PMI as defined in PMBOK.  You will have an understanding of how those practices in those nine key areas are implemented by other project managers through review of ongoing current community projects  You will have a comprehensive understanding of the PMI PMP® exam application process  You will have begun the PMP® exam application process by compiling a detailed summary of your project management experience, necessary for the application.  After completing this course, you will earn a WWU Project Management Certificate  Course credit through Western Washington University is optional  This course fulfills the educational prerequisite for the PMP® exam application  You will have learned PMP® exam study skills and test taking strategies 9/21/2009 PMP® Certification Preparation 1
