Slide 1: ==== ==== Win a $250 Starbucks Card by just entering!! http://www.facebook.com/pages/StarbucksContest/372678136097847?sk=app_349776408401303 ==== ==== I am always working with my clients to offer co-posts because that is the easiest - and cheapest way to grow your Facebook fan base. Typically, businesses work closely with other businesses in their industry. Most likely, they share the same type of audience on Facebook. So why not broaden your marketing reach by reaching out to their Facebook fans and visa versa? Business "A" post Facebook Post: "Check out Business B's amazing event on November 12th. www. BusinessB.com" Business "B" post Facebook Post: "Check out Business A's amazing product. www. Business-A.com" 1. Make sure you like the other business's (Business B) Facebook page before you co-post. Sometimes you have to log in and out of your browser to activate the "like." I have even had to wait a few hours for Facebook to register the "like." 2. Do a test post on Facebook, type the other business's fanpage name with the "@" symbol in front of the name. Did Facebook convert the text into a hyperlink? If not, Facebook still doesn't recognize that you are a fan of the other businesses page. 3. First, if there is a link associated with your post, click on the "link" text just above the status bar. Cut and Paste in that URL. 4. Now where is says in ghosted text "Say something about this link" type in your post's content: "Check out Business B's amazing event on November 12th". But make sure to put the "@" symbol in front of the fan page name to convert the text into hypertext. Congratulations! You have created your first co-post. The key to this method, is that when all possible, ask for the other business that is posting a Facebook post on your behalf, to link to a contest that you are running. This contest should require that the contestant become a fan of your page before submitting their form for the contest. This way you are not just gaining exposure with your Facebook Co-Post but you are also gaining a new fan in the meantime.
Slide 2: Don't forget to "co-post" on Twitter too! Twitter is less formal than Facebook and most likely you don't need an agreement with the tweeter to co-post, but it does help. Again remember to not have them just post a notification on your product or event, make sure they are posting a link that is a lead generating source, like an email newsletter sign-up, white paper or Facebook contest.
