Slide 1: Food & Feasts Medieval Times By Roni Veksler
Slide 2: The Lord’s Food • The lords had much grander food then the serfs. • They ate meats such as… • capons, geese, larks, chickens, beef, bacon, and lamb. • Lords that lived near a body water also ate salmon, herring, eels ands other fresh water fish.
Slide 3: The Serf’s Food • Serfs ate barley, that was it. • They made bread out of barley. • Of course they ate other things too. • They ate the fruit that grew nearby and they also made cheese and potage made from barley. • They drank ale, a beer. (made from barley)
Slide 4: The Kitchen • The chef had to taste the food for poison • The rotten meat was covered in spices to hide the taste. • The pickled fruits and vegetables to preserve them.
Slide 5: Feasts • A lords breakfast would last from six o’clock till seven o’clock. • A serfs breakfast would be at sunrise • A lords lunch would last from eleven o’clock till two o’clock. • A serfs lunch would be while he is working at about noon, it consisted bread, cheese, and ale. • a lords supper would last from six o’clock until seven o’clock. • A serfs supper would be eaten at sunset and consist vegetable pottage.
