Slide 2: What is a blizzard? A blizzard is a storm with:  35 mile per hour winds  Heavy falling or blowing snow  Reduced visibility  Extremely cold temperatures
Slide 3: How do blizzards form?  Blizzards form by blowing snow, wind, and dropping temeratures
Slide 4: Why are blizzards dangerous? Blizzards are dangerous because they produce a variety of life and property threatening conditions like:  Frost bite, hypothermia, and death
Slide 5: When caught in a winter storm    Do not eat snow, it will lower your body temperature Melt it first Find shelter try to stay dry  Stuff you need in your car: cell phone, candle, matches, flashlight, canned food, can opener, water, first aid kit
Slide 6: What is a white out? A white out is a blizzard that is so bad you lose your visibility
