Bellevue Bone and Joint Physicians specialize in evaluation and treatment of most orthopedic injuries and medical conditions of the spine and the upper and lower extremities. Slide 3: About Our Dr.Alan Brown, MD, JD Dr. Brown received his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah and then completed medical school in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan. Dr. Brown was also an orthopedic resident at the University of Michigan Hospitals and after two years in private practice in Washington he returned to the University of Michigan's law school, graduating in 1995. In 1994, he served as a Congressional Fellow in Washington, D.C. under Congressman Sander Levin. He was the team physician for the University of Michigan Men’s Gymnastics Team and went on to serve as one of the two event physicians for gymnastics during the Atlanta Olympic Games.
Slide 4: About Our Dr.Greg Engel, MD Dr. Engel is a native born Seattleite. After completing his undergraduate degree in oceanography/zoology at the University of Washington, he went onto medical school there, as well. He graduated with honors in the top ten of his class at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Engel completed his orthopedic residency at the UW affiliated hospitals which included Harborview Trauma Center, Children’s Orthopedic, Swedish Hospital, and the VA. He also received special training in sports medicine through the University of Washington’s sports medicine department.
Slide 5: About Our Dr.James Eric Clark, MD Dr. Clark is a native of the Seattle area and graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine. He has a particular interest in Arthritis Surgery and after completing general Orthopedic Surgical training, he went on to study Total Joint Replacement at Harvard Medical School. His subspecialty training focused on new developments in reconstructive surgery for the treatment of painful conditions of large joints, both in the upper and lower extremities. During his tenure on the academic staff at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, he gained experience with particularly complex problems affecting the hip, knee, and shoulder.
Slide 6: About Our Dr.Michael Battaglia, MD Michael (Mike) Battaglia, MD, joins Bellevue Bone and Joint after serving 4 years as the Head Team Physician for varsity sports at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, and Orthopedic Staff Surgeon at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. He holds a clinical appointment at Johns Hopkins University and previously at the University of California San Diego. Dr Battaglia graduated from Uniformed Services University in Bethesda in 1991 and, after finishing his internship in Oakland, CA, was a flight surgeon with the United States Marine Corps until completing his residency and training in Orthopedics in San Diego in 1999.
Slide 7: About Our Dr.Michael Taylor, PA-C Michael Taylor is a native of the Seattle area, and a graduate of the University of Washington with a B.S. in Microbiology. He attended the Physician Assistant Program at Oregon Health and Sciences University. Upon graduating from the PA program, Michael returned to Seattle to practice medicine in general orthopaedics with a special interest in total joint replacements and sports medicine. He has two children, Dominic and Nicholas. His many personal interests include skiing, traveling, and running. Michael also started his own winery in 2008 called Two Brothers Winery and he completes his degree in Wine Production Technology this year.
