Slide 1: Breast Reconstruction to Rebuild the Contour of the Breast Breast reconstruction is a surgical procedure that is used to rebuild the contour of the breast by focusing on its form, size, shape and structure. Breast reconstruction is a preferred choice among patients who have undergone a partial or full mastectomy. Methods of Breast Reconstruction There are two methods of breast reconstruction that can help you achieve shapely, attractive breasts – autologous tissue reconstruction and reconstruction with implants. Breast reconstruction can be customized to meet each patient’s aesthetic requirements and expectations. The procedure involves the use of a silicone bag known as expander prosthesis. It is used to expand the skin and soft tissue of the chest. Over a period of time, the bag is inflated with saline solution. Once the required stretching of skin is achieved, the expander is removed and the implant is placed.
