Whether it is a dining table, coffee table or any other table made from timber, building it is one of the most basic and simple projects around. By building a simple piece of furniture yourself you can save hundreds of dollars then if you were to buy it from the shop. Years ago when I moved into my very first home I didn't have a lot of money to buy furniture so the house was always empty. After watching a home improvement show on TV I saw a guy building a dining table, and I thought it looked very easy to do. So I decided I would give it a go and to my amazement the project I started was fully completed in 2 days and the table only cost me about $50 to build. I was so happy and proud of myself after this achievement because I had no past experience in woodworking or carpentry and I still created a table that actually looked like it had been bought from the shop, and it was not the last project I built on my own either. Over the years I gradually got better and better with woodworking that I now have a whole house filled with quality pieces of furniture that were all built by me and cost me hardly anything except the time and effort I put into them which was more fun than anything. From all these projects that I built, I would have saved myself thousands of dollars. But the most satisfying part about it all is that I can stand back and know that I was the one who build it all with my own two hands and that in itself is a fantastic feeling that you will never know unless you have done it. I strongly recommend that you try building a piece of furniture on your own as I promise you will enjoy every bit of it and save yourself money as well.
