Slide 3: Attracting Readership Fundamentals
• Link out – liberally!!
– Fight the “but they will leave my site” urge. – Think outside the real estate box. – Don’t just link to “A-list” blogs. They are typically very nice guys, but simply can’t link back to everyone. – Read these posts:

Slide 4: Attracting Readership Fundamentals
• Comment on other blogs
– Not just real estate blogs – diversify! – Leave your blog URL in the comment sign in, not the comment itself! – Add to the conversation – Don’t spam, ever. (no advertising, no additional links unless it is very pertinent to comment) – Subscribe to comments (if available – and add comment subscription to your blog if it’s not!)
• WP Plugin

• Participate in Blog Carnivals
– Carnival of Real Estate (CoRE) – Consumer Focused Carnival of Real Estate – There are hundreds of Blog Carnivals
• Host a Blog Carnival
– CoRE host waiting length is lengthy. But hosts do drop out (often at last minute). – It’s a ton of work.

Slide 7: SEO 101
• For the love of Pete, write for your readers, NOT the search engines!
– “If you write it, they will come” – Google is smart. Don’t overstuff “key words” – You don’t need to say “Phoenix real estate” 15 times in one post.
• Post titles are important. But vary them for readability. • Limit “H1” tags on a page – this is typically your post titles. Some say only 1, I use 5 posts on home page. I’ve seen 30 – this is bad. • All in One SEO Pack plugin – allows you to add descriptions to each post. Not index archives. • Limit tags and categories. Watch “tag bloat”. • Good SEO 101 Sources:
