Did you know you can help Google index the videos you create and post on your blog or website without knowing anything about html, xml, scripts or special characters? There is a quick and easy way to create a site map for your videos to help search engines understand your site's content more intelligently. Site maps also help a new site get indexed in search engines faster. Google has its own video site map generator that you can download for free, but in order to set it up there is a mighty complicated process involved for people who don't have the expertise or the time to do the work required to use it. This article will tell you a simple way to create site maps for your videos using a free software program called Video Sitemap Pro that was created by Microsoft MVP, Marc Liron. Here is the simple process. Download a copy of Video Sitemap Pro to your computer. Click on the software file and it opens (no installation needed). Click "Add Entry." Fill in the forms in the software with information about your video. Click the button to create your sitemap xml file. Upload the file to your website host's server. Tell Google where your sitemap file is located on your server. And you're done! Let's look at the information you will need about your video to plug in to the sitemap software. 1.What is the landing page location of your video? In other words, when someone clicks on your video which web page will they be taken to? 2.What is the content location of your video? On what page did you post the video? If the landing page location and content location are the same, the content location won't be needed. 3.Is your video "family friendly?" The only two options here are "yes" or "no." 4.What the title of your video? 5.Write a description of your video. Be sure to add the correct keywords people will use to find your video's content. 6.Do you have a thumbnail image you want Google to use in the search page results? If you do, type the location of the thumbnail image in this form. If you don't have an image then Google will simply choose a random image from your video, and it may not be the first image shown in your video. 7.What is the location of your video player? If your video is streaming from your server or a video storage data base like Amazon S3 or Screencast, then you would include the URL path for the location of your stored video player in this form. 8.Next is Allow Embed; yes or no? In other words, do you want to allow Google to include your video in search page results? Yes or no? 9.How long is your video? The duration form requires how many seconds your video runs. If your

When you click Validate Your Entry you may be prompted to make changes to your entry form. If you're good to go, then close the validation box. 11.Now click the button that reads Add Entry. 12.Save the code created to a folder on your computer. 13.When the file you download is in your folder, give the file a name and add the extension ".xml" to the file, and it will be magically transformed into an xml file. Upload this xml file to your server. After you have created your xml file and uploaded it to your server, now tell Google where your xml file is located on your server. You may have a location url that looks like this: "http://www.myveryimportantsite.com/coolvideo.xml". Give that URL to Google. You can find the Google Sitemaps account location online at Google Webmaster tools. This also important. Before you can add video sitemaps to your Google Sitemap account, first you need to have given Google a sitemap for your website. Do this first, then add video sitemaps as you create them to your Google account. Your site URL will look like this: "http://www.myveryimportantsite.com/sitemap.xml". If you want to easily create an xml sitemap for your website go to xml-sitemaps.com and fill in the forms with information about your site. Take that xml site map, upload it to your server, and give the server location URL to Google. Wait a day for Google to find your site's sitemap location.
