Slide 1: To All Fellow Campers! Once again, for the 8th consecutive year, the Lunn Family has embraced our cross-country program and invited us to their beautiful property in Groton Vermont. The main philosophy of this camp has been to keep it extremely fun, and to create a family type atmosphere. We have 16 runners attending this year, and over 30 additional family and friends. Mrs. Martin will once again take on the enormous task of preparing food for over forty people. A challenge considering we have no electricity, running water, or refrigeration. She will have plenty of helping hands when it comes to cooking, cleaning, and preparing meals. That’s what makes this camp so special; we are all have to help each other every single day. Mr. Lunn has added a fourth night this year. This allows us to add more adventurous activities into our schedule. We have added a Zipline Canopy tour out of Smugglers Notch. Three hours of Flying through trees, over shaky bridges, and rappelling a few times, will certainly add a little excitement into our trip. Although it added a few extra dollars onto the cost, it will be a great experience by all. We also added a 4000 ft climb up Mt. Mansfield, Ben & jerry’s, and a X-C Relay Race. We can also add in Volleyball, wiffleball, Frisbee, Swimming, Stargazing, Campfires, Smoares, and let’s not forget that incredible Lunn Family Fireworks display. Oh Yeah!......We might fit several distance runs in the mix as well. I need all checks as soon as possible, so we can finalize all our shopping needs. The additional forty dollars for the zipline, zip line waiver, and
Slide 2: camp waiver/insurance form, can be given to me on departure day. We will see everyone behind Joe’s American Bar in Grill on Wednesday morning at 7:15. We will load Mr. Lunn’s Truck on Departure Day !!!! Runners Please try to get all money into me no later than this Sunday We need everyone to bring their own water bottle for drinks ! We'll have plenty to drink, we'll just need water bottles. The Temperature will drop into the high forties at night, so warm clothes are a must. If anyone does not have a tent please let us know. We'll supply one. Bring some spending money; we go for ice cream each evening. We will also stop at a Wendy's for Lunch on the way to Groton, Vermont. We will do the same on the way home. We will charge the runners an additional $40 on top of the $60 per night. The Camp money will hopefully cover the other $45. All non runners going Zip lining will be $85.00 per person.
Slide 6: Where is the camp located? It is located in Groton, Vermont and is approximately 200 miles from Norwell. It will take a little over four hours to arrive in Groton. What kind of facilities does the property have? Let's just say this is luxury camping. The property has no electricity, an outhouse, solar powered showers, and a spring fed pond. We will cook on an open flame. This is camping! The property has one cabin type structure in which about fifteen girls may use to sleep in. Do we bring tents? Yes! Almost everyone brings some kind of tent. You may want to work it out with your fellow teammates on sleeping arrangements. What do we eat? The food is terrific! We will have all kinds of food including pasta, chicken, steak, salads etc. We will have plenty of food and drinks for all. Do we just run when we get up there? Certainly running is a big part of it, but other activities include Volleyball, Wiffleball, Frisbee, swimming, and hiking. We are there to have all kinds of fun. John Lunn will also put on a fireworks display on the last day. Can families attend? Most definitely! We will have several families attend will children of all ages. What if it rains? We do have some shelter. We have a giant cabin type structure available to us. We also have two giant canopy type tents we use to eat under. A 20 x 30 and a 20 x 20. Do we shower? We have two ways to shower. Mr. Lunn has solar power showers attached to 50 gallon drums of water. The other way we shower is in the beautiful spring fed crystal clear pond. Can I attend a few days late or leave early? Yes, you can arrange to meet us up in Vermont or even leave early. How much money do we need to bring? Money for a meal on the way up and back. Slide 7: Directions to John Lunn's Property Directions to The Lunn's Campsite in Groton, Vermont 1. Take route 93 North to 89 North. 2. Take 89 North. (About 61.35 miles) (Rest area at exit 16—good hot dogs, Fuel, Restroom, and Subway. Easy on Easy off) 3. Take route 91 North to exit 17, route 302 West (About 40.59 miles) 4. Route 302 for 6.21 miles. 5. Just before graveyard, take a RIGHT onto Glover Road. (Will be a dirt Road) 6. Go 1.25 miles up Glover Rd and you will see a street called Sawyers Road, turn RIGHT, right before it. 4 wheel drive would help at this point…. Go down a steep, unpaved road lined with trees. Go through the open gate and continue along the road until it ends and you see a steep, grassy hill in front of you. Veer to your left and follow the tire tracks up the small hill. DO NOT GO UP THE PART OF THE ROAD PAVED WITH ROCKS, OR THE ROAD TO THE RIGHT OF YOU. When you get to the top, you may be able to see the pond. Turn right, go through the two trees farthest to the right, and follow the wheel tracks to the campsite. Good Luck!!
