In the west, makeup is indelibly associated with attractive women, and has been so ingrained into our culture that when celebrities dare to go out without it, their picture is splashed all over the tabloids. I think the chances are though, if you're reading this article, you're the type of person who doesn't sit back and let society choose opinions for them. Makeup on men is not only a perfectly acceptable thing, it's a good thing. Unless you want to go out looking like a woman (and quite a lot of men do!), the key to makeup is subtlety. So long as you apply makeup with subtlety in mind, 99.9% of men wont notice you have it on, and while a lot more women will notice it, it will almost always reflect favorably on you. Showing that you care about, and put thought into, your appearance is definitely a positive trait. There are three key types of mens makeup - nail polish, eyeliners and concealer. Nail polish is a pretty easy sell, as a good number of men in many different subcultures can be seen out wearing it every night of the week. It's best to stick to masculine colours - charcoal and black are a good idea, red and pink are likely to attract unwanted attention from insecure men. Eyeliner is a fantastic tool for making your eyes stand out, and as the eyes are the focal point of the face, it's pretty obvious why this is a good idea. Concealer is a useful backup for those who aren't too fastidious with their skincare regime - you can use it to cover up any unsightly blemishes, and it's also handy for disguising fine lines and wrinkles, but concealer is an easy one to get wrong, be sure not to plaster it all over your face!
