Development of Instruction
§
My objective is to develop a lesson that is centered around the importance of breakfast and also deals with the food pyramid. First I would lecture to the students about how breakfast is essential in the morning to get your body going. I would also talk about how students who don’t eat breakfast are less focused and less attentive in class.

Incorporating the Food Pyramid
§
Being a health and wellness lesson, I would want to make a connection with the food pyramid. As a class, we would go through the different food groups and what foods go within those different groups. We would then put together what we all agree was a well balanced breakfast.

Method of Evaluation
§
It’s important that all of my students understand how to work with the food pyramid To test them, I will hand out empty blank food pyramids and have them sort out their next two morning meals on those blank food pyramids By giving them an independent activity, it gives them a chance to work on their own and gives me a chance to make sure they understand the learning objectives I was trying to hit.

Facts about Breakfast
§
Breakfast is like fuel in a car, you can’t get anywhere if your tank is empty. Breakfast fuels our body and helps us get ready to take on the day. 8-12% of school-aged students don’t eat breakfast. 20-30% of adolescents skip the meal as well These students are missing essential nutrients and vitamins that will help them focus better and be more alert in classes.
