Slide 2: Introduction
There are two sets of numbers presented to show you how to calculate and lay out the results you may obtain on your questionnaires. There are two examples using the same set of questions - about reactions to online learning. Both sets have responses to a set of questions from a questionnaire where a four point Likert-type scale was used.

Slide 5: Descriptive data
As mentioned, for your evaluation project keep your calculations simple. % Frequencies and means should be adequate. Where you obtain interesting and important results you may wish to illustrate these by creating a graph.

Slide 6: Qualitative data
Look for similar themes in the comments provided in the questionnaire and summarise these. For example – how would you summarise responses which were similar to each of these responses – proposed themes in brackets? • I found no difference between online learning and text based learning (no difference between modes) • My lack of previous experience with online learning did not cause any problems (problems with lack of experience) • I quite often attended class simply to clarify certain pointsunderdidn't Commons Attribution 3.0 (face-to-face support) I a Creative understand licensed
Slide 7: Summary
Use simple statistical calculations for descriptive data Excel spreadsheets or Google spreadsheets are good for calculations and creating graphs Use a mix of tables and graphs – summaries and illustrations of findings. Write about the important findings in relation to the context and the evaluation questions More detailed tables should go in the Appendices Summarise themes from qualitative data and put in results section
