Slide 1: The latest stand mixer we tested was the Kitchenaid Professional 600mixer. In the standard battery of tests this 6 quart Kitchenaid mixer preformed as well as it's earlier counterparts. It was easy to clean and operate with only a few reservations about cleaning behind the bowl clip, as this should rarely come up it is a minor concern. In the usage tests, we tested the Kitchenaid Professional 600 mixer in several different categories, which included egg whites, mashed potatoes, cookie dough and the real test of bread dough. The results were as follows: In the egg whites test, this machine whipped the egg whites into stiff peaks quickly while leaving no unwhipped egg whites left in the bottom of the bowl. This test proves the quality of the design in the fact that the whisk can pull from the bottom and side with out scraping the sides of the bowl. The Kitchenaid Professional 600 mixer preformed similarly well in the mashed potato test. However a word of warning - watch the potatoes closely as the powerful 575 watt motor will make your mashed potatoes in to finely whipped potatoes very quickly. In the cookie dough test, the 6-quart Kitchenaid mixer had no problems with the volume of the recipe. The large bowl even allowed the doubling of the old favorite recipe off the back of the bag of chips with out any concern of over flow or stress on the motor. The bread dough test is where most stand units fail. We have always used a whole-wheat high glutton bread recipe for the test and many mixes are not up to the task. However the 6 quart Kitchenaid mixer did not fail to impress. The large 575-watt motor was able to knead the dough to the correct consistency with no trouble and never bogged down. The patented dough hook also preformed well as it did not gather the dough on the hook and no adjustment of the dough was necessary by the testers. All in all, the Kitchenaid Professional 600mixer preformed very well and receives our highest praise. Our purchasing agents also found the website to be helpful and easy to navigate.
