I thought that this appliance was pretty cool. I had never heard of Sous Vide so I certainly had no idea what it was. After receiving my Sous Vide Supreme I realized a few cool things about the Sous Vide techniques. Here are: 1. Looks Cool: I like the way the Sous Vide Supreme looks in my kitchen. It comes in a few different colors which are stainless steel, black, red, and green. The display is nice looking and easy to use. This machine does not take up a lot of counter space. 2. Ease of Use: Whenever I am using something it has got to be easy to use I don't like trying to read a manual and take all day trying to figure it out. With this appliance you are up and going in a few minutes. It is easy to clean up. Since your food is being cooked in a vacuum sealed bag you don't have to really clean up anything. All you have to do is change the water and wipe the inside out if you want. This may not fall under ease of use but when you cook you food you can cook quite a bit in advance and then store it in the freezer. Then when you are ready for the food you just take it out and heat it up. 3. Cooks Great Food: What makes this such a good appliance is you can cook great meals. What makes it so special is the food is cooked in a vacuum sealed bag. The food cooks in this bag and cooks in it's own juices. The food will come out tender and moist every time. This is awesome if you are cooking a cut of steak that is normally tough. With the Sous Vide Oven you can cook a tough cut of meat and it fill come out tender like tenderloin. So really this is a cost cutting device as well. This oven cooks your food over a very extended amount of time at a temperature (hours to a couple of days) around 135 degrees. The manual gives you all the cooking temperatures you need. 4. Makes You A Gourmet Cook: The Sous Vide Techniques is practiced in many up scale restaurants. However, because of it's ease of use you can cook gourmet meals as well. Chicken, lamb chops, steaks, pork chops, vegetables you name it. Just vacuum seal your food in advance and set it in the water oven. Set the temperature and walk away. 5. Cheaper Than Commercial Units: Before the Sous Vide Oven was developed you would have to purchase a commercial unit. Thiose things are expensive. They range in the $1500.00 range. However, a water oven or oven with steam costs anywhere from $200.00 to $400.00. it is extremely safe to use as well. Before this oven was made for the public you would have to get a crockpot and hook up a laboratory heater toi keep the temperature constant. Consistent temperature is imperative for a Sous Vide oven to work correctly. If there is any temperature fluctuation then the texture and overall quality of your food will be changed.
