Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – In a dramatic display of national pride and unity, the citizens of Mongolia expressed a commitment to peace and prosperity at the Global Peace Festival (GPF) in Ulaanbaatar. Just weeks after disputed elections brought the nation to the brink of civil war, Sukhbaatar Square was once again filled with huge crowds. This time, however, they sang and danced for peace.
Slide 3: The Festival marked the culmination of several days of activities including a cit-wide service effort, a youth arts competition, speaking, dancing and song contests, and an International Leadership Conference that drew delegates from Europe and Asia.
Slide 4: “Mongolia, Eurasia and the whole world need a new vision of peace for the 21st Century," said keynote speaker and GPF founder Dr. Hyun Jin Moon. "Unlike the secular thinking of our recent past, it should be a spiritual vision, rooted in universal values. Although territorial, ethnic and national divisions, and broken economic and social ties all provoke instability, uncertainty and violence, the nations and peoples of this region need a new peace initiative based upon our common values. That vision, of one family under God, is the clarion call of our age.”
Slide 5: About Global Peace Festival Led by President Hyun Jin Moon, Global Peace Festival (GPF) promotes and celebrates persons and programs that contribute to reconciliation, mutual respect, harmony and cooperation among the members of the whole human family, as “One Family Under God.”
Slide 6: In partnership with a variety of faith-based organizations, NGOs, government agencies, educational institutions, and members of the private sector, GPF encourages programs that strengthen God-centered marriages and families, facilitate intercultural and interreligious cooperation, and foster a culture of peace and service. Ongoing programs are implemented throughout the year and culminate in a biennial Global Peace Festival that consists of an international leadership conference, a social impact program, and a public celebration.
