The Alexandria Zoo was founded in 1926.
•
The first animals it had were discarded pets, such as rabbits, deer, and goats.
•
The zoo didn’t change very much until the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture threatened to close them.
•
Now, it keeps over 500 animals in thirty-three acres.
