The Church, The Holy Catholic Church How It came to be, ….and other curiosities.
Needless to say, this Major Religions book is in the ‘other curiosities’ category. To my knowledge, there is no other book on the market that offers a reader a brief overview, a snapshot, of each major religion.
Note: The word “catholic” means universal;, so the Holy Catholic Church would be the whole Christian church for the entire world, THE CHURCH.

Slide 3: There are three interesting aspects of this idea:
first, ever since 9/11 and the continued terrorist slaughter of people, there is a fear as to what Islam is all about, what does it teach; second, there is, therefore, a curiosity as the differences among the religions, including Christianity; third, all this stirs-up the very worst fears of humankind which are death and eternal lostness – it is not ‘where we came from’ or ‘why we are here,’ it is the fear of dying and what happens to us!

Slide 4: The attractive aspects of this idea are that the reader does not have read several books on this subject; it is short. It is a synopsis of each religion, and the reader can do further study if they desire. It is comparative, asking the same questions of each religion. The usable aspects of this book are that there is an awful lot of ignorance with everyone on the differences of each religion. The understandable aspects of this idea are that the vast majority of people do not ever attend church, or synagogue, or mosque, or temple, but they still think, and worry, about this ‘stuff,’ this subject. The timely aspects of this idea is 9/11 and the terrorists activity, jihad, we read about on a daily basis. The salable aspects are: it is comparative, the same set of questions is asked of each religion; it is short, one doesn’t have to read the “entire library;” furthermore, it is supported with other reports.
