In 2007, over 15 million vehicles were produced in North America, including three million produced in Canada and a little over two million in Mexico, according to Ward’s AutoInfoBank 2008. Currently, Ontario's automotive industry em-ploys over 130,000 people, represents about 20% of the province's total manufacturing output, and comprises 90% of Canada's total automotive industry, including all Canadian-built cars and light trucks. More than 700 auto parts manufacturers in the GTA Ontario produced the most amount of vehicles in Canada producing over 2.4 million units   
Slide 3: Jobs and Economy  Ontario employs more than 63000 skilled workers Jobs in steels, plastics, auto parts manufacturing accounts for 89000 additional jobs in the economy Last year Canadians spent $21 out of every $100 spent on retail for auto parts and services.  

Slide 8: Indian Auto Cluster  India and had limited contribution to the economy, currently contributing about 5% of the GDP and it is targeted to grow five fold by 2016 and account for over 10% of India’s GDP.  production of 185,000 units in 1970-71, the industry currently produces 11 million vehicles. And from a turnover of $34 billion, the industry is expected to reach a turnover of $150-200 billion in next ten years. GDP is expected to have merely doubled.
