Slide 1: How Many SEO Experts Are Actually Experts? I was always under the impression that if you were known as an expert in your field, that you had really worked and studied very hard for a number of years. This is certainly the case in the majority of professions. These experts then gain a lot of respect from their juniors and the public a like. So where is the industry of search optimisation going wrong? In this field we have literally thousands of people classing themselves as an SEO expert, but how many of them actually deserve that title? I find the whole subject very interesting as the rules keep changing and to really become a winner in this field you have to ensure that you continue to update your knowledge. I regularly visit the forums and am amazed at the amount of rubbish that is bounded about by some of the forum members. I sometimes visit the websites of these people and am often amazed at how often I find a poorly designed, optimised site. I then look at how they are ranking for their keywords and low and behold they are not even in the top twenty. These are people who are advertising themselves and charging a lot of money as SEO experts - what a joke. See to SEO Specialist I believe that there should be some form of SEO exam; after all there are examinations in every other industry. The person who would like to offer his services and to call themselves an SEO expert, should also be able to provide proof of their past clients as was of confirming just how expert they are. If you are one of these SEO experts I would advise you to provide past case studies, including contact details for the sites. At the moment the SEO industry is becoming a bit of a laughing stock for the business world, this is something that will need to change in the future.
