The fascination with computers at this young age is due to the desire of very young children to shadow everything that their parents and older siblings do. In today's world, where everything is dependent on the computer, children are naturally curious at an ever-earlier age. Involving them at this stage may be one of the best things that parents can do to help promote their early education. One of the many methods to get a young child involved with the computer is to look into children's eBooks. With the animation and sounds that are available, you may find that their favorite story has been transformed into a new experience for them. Trying to get a 3 year old to sit still long enough to finish a short story may prove to be frustrating for both parent and child. Using an eBook may just give parents an edge. The child will likely be captivated while they are read to. Keep in mind that having their own activities on the computer is a big deal for them. Even without animation, the music that can be embedded into an eBook can be enough to get a child involved. Some eBooks will read the story page by page waiting until an icon is clicked before continuing. This type of book will help with hand / eye co-ordination and children can learn to use the mouse without a lot of effort. Children with attention deficit disorder may be able to improve their ability to pay attention with the help of eBooks. The captivating power of the computer helps keep their attention so that it is easier for them to stay focused for the length of time required to finish the book. With an eBook, a child with no patience for reading won't even realize that they are being read to. By incorporating the need to click the mouse to change the page, some eBooks have become more interactive. Since "playing" on the computer is so appealing to them, the child will be anxiously awaiting the point where clicking is required. Just like the other favorite games, this one will keep them coming back again and again. Without knowing it, they will be increasing their skills each time that they "play".
