Have you heard about all of the changes rolling out on Facebook? Within the next few weeks, Timeline will be mandatory for all Facebook users. I wasn't sure about it first, but after playing around with it on my profile since December I've become a huge fan. The first thing I stumbled upon after applying it to my Facebook account? Pictures and comments from my favorite college formal, where I *still* think I looked amazing. I hadn't thought about that in forever! The one part of the Facebook Timeline that has been driving me nuts was the profile feature cover photo. I kept uploading pictures, only to realize how difficult it is to get the positioning just right unless your photo is the right size (which they don't tell you). So finally I sat down one night to create an image that was extremely me. Simple, clean, and to the point! However, after uploading it I was flooded with inbox questions from friends on how to create their own Facebook Timeline image! Don't worry; you don't need any fancy photo creation software on you computer to create your own great image; there are tons of free resources out there! How To Create a Custom Facebook Timeline Image 1. Learn the elusive dimensions of the Facebook Timeline cover photo space: 851 pixels wide by 315 pixels high. It's important to know these dimensions so you know the size your image needs to be in order to fit perfectly! 2. Re-size an existing photo or create your own: If you are just resizing a photo you have, you can use any photo software on your computer (like Adobe Photoshop, Irfanview, etc) and crop the image until it's perfect. But don't worry if you don't have photo editing software! Here are some great resources online that are FREE! - Photoshop Express - FotoFlexer Now on to creating a Facebook Timeline image from scratch. This is more challenging, but totally worth it! I created mine using Photoshop, but you can use any photo editing software/tool as long as you can do three things: 1) create a blank image at 851 pixels wide by 315 pixels high
Slide 2: 2) work with a background color/design, text, and images 3) save as an img file (JPeg, PNG, etc.) 3. Upload your image. Facebook will walk you through the process of uploading and positioning your image. Play with it until it's perfect. So that's it! Three simple steps to creating a custom Facebook Timeline image!
