Slide 1: ==== ==== Dog Lovers must check this out! www.happydogexample.com ==== ==== Everyone knows, a happy dog is something that makes everyone smile - their tongue-wagging grin is simply contagious. The reality is, a dog who has his needs met, who is taken care of, who feels like he belongs to a family will be a great dog to have. The dog owner needs to be happy too, though - for most people, their dog is an extension of their own personality. So what goes into making a happy dog and a happy owner? R-E-S-P-E-C-T The very first thing a dog and his owner need to have for each other is respect. For the dog, he needs to learn that he is subordinate to his owner. He should learn that his owner is the proverbial "alpha dog" that controls his life, tells him what to do and when to do it. Most dogs are very loyal and eager to please their owner. However, this requires the owner to chip in as well - spend some time with the dog, and help him learn what you want him to do, and what you don't want him to do. Spend 15 minutes a day working on a training technique with your dog. Remember, dogs are like young kids - they have short attention spans. Much more than 15 minutes and your dog will not be able to focus much. Your dog will love that you are spending time telling him what you like - and he will no doubt be happy to reward you with the behavior desired. Regular Outings Every dog loves a good walk in the neighborhood. A happy dog is a well-exercised dog - they need to have some space to run around, roam - and if they don't have this, then you should make sure to devote time every day to get your dog out for a short walk. And exercise is not just good for the dog; it is good for the owner too! Many dog owners would agree, they like to show off their pooch. Pets are always great social conversation starters. Getting your dog out for some exercise, or even taking them on that coveted ride in the car can be very therapeutic for your canine pal. Attention Is Important Nothing makes a dog happier than someone to give them lots of petting, love and attention. Don't forget to give your dog some attention and love regularly. Praise them when they do good things but don't make a scene when they happen to do something naughty. A firm, corrective stern tone of voice is all you need to convey your disappointment. A neglected dog is the one who sits in your yard and barks at virtually anything it can think of - even just to hear its own voice. Positive attention, praise, a good rub behind the ear - these are all critical keys to keeping a happy dog. Remember - YOU are the Alpha Dog Always keep in mind, you are the dog owner - not the other way around. If you feel like your dog is
Slide 2: controlling you, the shoe is on the wrong foot. You can easily change that with simple tricks - like telling your dog "No" when he tells you it is time to eat, time to go for a walk, or any other behaviors your dog does to control you. You do things on your own schedule, not his. Change up the times you do routine things each day, such as feeding times, walk times, and so on. If your dog looks up to you with that look that says "I'm waiting for you to do something" - you know you are the alpha. This is the key to a happy dog and a happy owner. Stop all your dog behavior issues and become one of the happy owners with happy dogs Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Gonzalo_D_Chagas ==== ==== Dog Lovers must check this out! www.happydogexample.com ==== ====
