Slide 1: ==== ==== Start A Website allows online marketers to be able to set up niche websites, make money and set them up in a reasonable time frame. Gone Are The Days Of Struggling With Building A Clean Website. Get One Up Faster Than Ever Before With Step By Step Videos And Written Tutorials. Breaking Down Each Step And Diving Into The Particulars To Why It's Done That Way. http://bit.ly/JKCHmR ==== ==== When teaching about building an internet business for women, one of the most common questions is how to build a website. Most women are understandably intimidated, but there are ways to make this process easy and painless, and have your internet business up and running with a professional looking website, for very little money! There are three ways to build a website. Hire a website designer. $$$$$ Buy software, find a domain web hosting service, and buy and register the domain yourself. $$$$ Or, do as I did and use whole web solution that hosts the website, registers the domain name and provides you with an easy to use template and site building software. $ No, I am NOT recommending one of those, send me your money and we'll set you up with a two page website just like every other website we sell. The company I use is well known and you can create a professional and totally unique website from scratch, or use their templates and customize to your preference. Anything can be changed from the photos on the site, to the font to the color of the back ground, and the software offers thousands of different combinations. And ANY woman can do it! Bottom line, whole web solutions are easy for the novice, inexpensive and package everything you need to be online in one place. You can sign up and have your own domain and be online in just minutes. Now, building the website is a different story; that takes a little time! I highly recommend you learn to mange your own website. Software that comes with a whole web solution is as easy as drag and drop, and you can even find great tutorials online to help you learn all the features. No matter what web solution you choose in building your site, there are a variety of tips it took me years to learn, that I wish I'd known! First of all, I find it helpful when building a new site to sketch it out on paper first. This gives me an idea of what I want to include, what subjects are necessary and how I want to arrange it. Remember, right now you are just getting the bones of your site down. You don't have to have everything in stone. In fact, if you are a smart businesswoman you will change things. Change is a
Slide 2: great way to test out new ideas, to see what works better for you and your readers. It also keeps the website interesting. People get bored. Don't let them get bored at your site! Next, one of the best ways to learn what surfers want, is to find a site similar to the one you want in your topic or a related one, and learn from it. This is NOT to suggest you copy someone else's website! But this is a great way to learn arrangement ideas, design tips and the general look your target audience is looking for. The big companies have already paid an expensive web designer, so you just need to glean ideas! Again, you want your website to be original. And you would NEVER want to steal another's work, so make sure you aren't reproducing integral parts of their website. The last thing you want when trying to establish yourself is to send the message that you are unethical. Basically, a simple website has three main things you must decide upon right off. Background. Navigation. Text font. Everything else builds upon those three items. So lets start there! For your background, I always suggest using white whenever possible. I have tried a variety of backgrounds throughout the years, and I still have one website that has a colored background. But what I found through testing and making changes is that a white background yields the highest clicks on ads, which will in turn make you more money when you start using advertising on the site. A white background also offers a simple and quiet setting for the eyes. It allows you to make changes in images, font color or navigation styles without having to change the integral look of the site. Do NOT use a patterned background! It is distracting and looks unprofessional in most cases. Navigation is that groups of links usually along the top or left hand side of the website that links to your main pages. This is how readers will find their way through the site. Templates will provide you with choices for the design of your "nav bar". Go with something simple, that stands out well. Often just using text for the navigation works better than suing fancy buttons and such. Again, here's is a good place to look at your example website, and see what others in your topic are using. When you choose what pages to link to in your nav bar, choose the main categories of your topic. Make sure the text on your nav bar is in a different color than the text on the rest of the page. Website templates will do this automatically, but you can change the colors if you prefer. I put a nav bar at the top and bottom, and also one along the left hand side on every page. That
Slide 3: way, no mater where someone might be on a page, they know how to navigate the site and never feel lost. People who feel lost go somewhere else. You have a lot of options when selecting a font for your website. Its best to stay in the same style throughout the site. Don't change from page to page, or from section to section, its not professional. Choose something easy to read, and stay away from flowery script or gothic style lettering. Use bold for titles, and make the font a little larger for titles, categories, or anything you want to get a lot of attention. One more thing you must have on every page...contact info. First of all, you appear an amateur and untrustworthy of no one knows how to contact you. Second, the Can Spam act should encourage you to be open about your contact information. Get a PO Box, and list your address and email address at the bottom of every page. Everything else is an option, although you'll find to compete with other sites on the web, you'll want to keep these things in mind... A logo at the top of every page. A consistent color scheme. Just like you would choose soothing colors for a room, choose the same for your website, and keep it the same from page to page. Images. People like pictures, so if they work with your topic, provide them! Just make sure they are optimized to a small size...nothing will send visitors from your website faster than having to wait forever for each page to load. Large images slow down the pages considerably. Website building DON'Ts. Don't use flashy trends such animation or bouncing text. They scream amateur! Don't use colored text for the main body of information. Use black, or navy blue at the most. Don't stop learning and changing things. That doesn't mean overhauling the whole site every month. Just feel free to try new ideas and see how they work for you. Don't forget to check your links and make sure they actually work. Nothing is more frustrating for a reader to find some info they have been looking for, and then to click on it to find they get an error page. They will leave the site, and might not come back. When building your internet business, obviously how to build a website will be a main priority. Don't let it frighten you into not starting your internet business at all...no matter how tight your budget, you can build a website and create business presence you can be proud of! ==== ====
