Older children with Aspergers syndrome can enjoy focused interest clubs such as stamp or coin collection types of clubs. At times, the child with Asperger symptoms may appear uncaring, but this is not done deliberately, as many children may exhibit such mannerisms because it is difficult for them to understand the social behaviors that society expects of them. It is possible to encourage and even teach social skills to children with Asperger symptoms. If you try to teach social skills, you should be patient as it can be quite a long process. Parents are encouraged to take an interest during the social training aspect of Aspergers children. Teaching social skills can be done through visual aids that can help Aspergers children to learn how to listen to others as well as remain silent when others are talking. This would encourage a two-way conversation rather than a one-way conversation.
