Slide 1: From Zero to Hero: Chet Holmes’ Latest Musical Is a Fine Homage to the Californian Dream Chet Holmes is not just a top business person, but a keen connoisseur of what people want in terms of entertainment. And right now the trend is to screen or stage success stories, the good old “from rags to riches” theme, but with a pinch of originality in it. Chet Holmes And Chet Holmes’ latest musical, Emily’ Song is all that, and even more. The story has just enough drama in it to make it moving and emotional, to each out to the viewers’ hearts. Set on both the East and West Coasts, Emily’s Song deals with a painful subject – losing a parent – but it ends with a happy twist, in the classic Hollywood tradition. It is a good point mentioning the Hollywood connection – because it is yet another proof of Chet Holmes’ fine sense of good business. Emily’s Song was bound for the silver screen, as a Warner Brothers production starring LeAnn Rimes. Everyone would say that this is good business, right? Not Chet Holmes. He stopped production, cancelled the whole project and rewrote Emily’s Song into a musical. He also composed half of the songs (yet another talent you wouldn’t expect from him) and signed Lindsey Haun to play the title character. Chet Holmes Emily’s story is moving and painfully realistic. Her mother dies in childbirth and just on her 10th birthday, she also loses her father who mysteriously disappears. Chet Holmes doses suspense with a master’s ease and intelligence. The story is dramatic enough to impress the audience, with beautiful songs placed artistically to ease down the pressure and make the show an enjoyable one. It sounds simple and easy, but putting together such a production is hard work. And Chet Holmes is just the right person to take up hard work, and turn it into smart work. He assembled an enthusiastic and competent cast and crew and so Emily’s Song had a perfect premiere with great accolades from the audience and from critics alike. Business Growth Masters What makes this musical special is the smooth transition from one situation to another, very different one. Emily’s progression from a happy girl to a destitute orphan, then on to a problem girl caught in a toxic relationship is believable. The even sharper progress from problem girl to pop star is very natural and not at all far-fetched. All in all, Emily’s Song is a fine rewriting of the classic “from zero to hero” Hollywood story. It is a fine musical with lovely music and it can be your perfect choice for a lovely evening out with your family.
