Slide 1: Impressed is an understatement. I recently saw this at a university and after a brief look I decided that this calculator blew mine out of the water. I often find the obscure and advanced settings in my calculator to be a bit hard and confusing to use. The Nspire fixes this with a totally different approach than the Texas Instruments TI-83/84 series. The touchpad is quite a revelation; it took me a little while to understand how exactly it worked, I would recommend having a reference book by your side if you want to get the most out of this calculator. The keypad is clear and obvious - I was amazed at how much I could do with such little effort, I would even go as far as saying that this could replace Mathematica in the classroom. The bottom line is that this calculator is a magnificent piece of tech and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality graphing calculator. A colleague of mine tried to compare this to the TI-89; I however think there is no contest. This thing blows the TI-89 out of the water. It's faster, easier to read and a joy to use, however; with this is a steep learning curve. In my opinion this learning curve is entirely worth it. The Nspire comes with desktop software that duplicates the functions of the calculator, which is useful if you're like me and spend a lot of time on your computer. The biggest advantages to the TI-Nspire are with inputting expressions and graphing. There are templates for summations, integrals and just about anything else you'd encounter in any calculus or high level mathematics class. I adore that there are fewer commands in order to learn to find intercepts and extrma - all you have to do is use the trace feature and the Nspire will do the work for you. Bearing in mind that you need to find these points a lot in calculus this is a HUGE advantage.
