NY1's Adam Balkin filed the following report. Image quality should always be first on your requirements when choosing a digital camera for a holiday gift. But if you're looking for one that also offers different, drastically different features, Nikon's S1000PJ will surely fit the bill. At $430, it's more of an instant gratification camera than other digital cameras with its built-in projector that allows you to show off your shots, in large format, just seconds after you take them. "Now I can actually project them onto a wall, a surface, a menu wherever I happened to be. At about six and a half feet away from a surface you get about a 40 inch image," said Nikon representative Steve Heiner.
Slide 2: Samsung's Dualview TL225 bills itself as the first camera with not one but two LCD screens. At $300, the one in front helps you frame yourself in self portraits and also offers up a few other neat tricks for getting the shot you want without having to take it a thousand times. "There's a child mode for taking pictures with children it'll play a short movie so it'll keep the child's attention a little and have them focus on camera. It also has a self timer on it which every camera on the market has but our's with that dual LCD and that front LCD screen counts down from 3, 2, 1 so you know exactly when that photo's going to happen," said Samsung representative Jason Ledder. And finally, a first in the video camera category, the Contour HD claims to be the very first wearable, high definition camcorder. "One button to record, that's on, that's off. Every camera comes with a set of mounts so you wear it on your helmet, your bike, your motorcycle. Inside we record about eight hours to a memory card and when you get home we give you software to share it online," said VHoldR representative Marc Barros. The Contour HD comes in at $280 and is shock, vibration, impact and water resistant, making it the perfect gadget for the extreme thrill seeker on your holiday list.
