Four Referral Marketing Habits: 1. Show up on time. You can be the best in the world at whatever you do, but if you don't show up on time then you'll make plenty of people mad. How come? Because when you are late you are telling the other person that you don't care about their time. And that your time is more valuable. Talk about a slap in the face. How do you feel if someone you are supposed to meet shows up late, and doesn't call? Sure being late does happen, even to the best of us. But, if you are going to be late then call the other person and let them know. This is the polite thing to do. What's more important, if you are chronically late nobody will refer you no matter how good you are. 2. Do what you say you are going to do. There's a saying in the South that goes like this, "He's big hat and no cattle." Know what that means? It means the guy talks a lot but he doesn't do much of anything. Look, plenty of people say they'll do something. But when the rubber meets the road, how many people follow through with what they said they were going to do? This is your chance to shine since so many other people drop the ball here. The point I'm getting at is this: If you want referrals, then do what you say you are going to do. 3. Finish what you start. Herein is another problem that a lot of people suffer from. I have trouble with this one too.
