Slide 2: FASHION CAPITALS New York  Paris  Milan  London  Tokyo  *A Fashion Capital is a location which is influential in fashion and in which fashion is important. A fashion capital would be the home of many top designers, modeling agencies, and the other fields in the industry.
Slide 3: NEW YORK New York City has been recognized as a top fashion capital known for their chic street and business wears and its designers. The city is known for good entertainments in musicals, interesting tour sites and various museums. New York City is known for a big cosmopolitan population, liberalism, and business central world wide. The busy and cosmopolitan society brought the qualities of the city to make it as a fashion capital. The city has produced many great designers, mostly known for the street and daily wears. Two of the most famous designers from New York are Donna Karen for DKNY and Calvin Klein. Their fashion houses became world wide famous for their chic casual and formal wears for all the people.
Slide 4: DONNA KAREN Donna Karen created the DKNY (Donna Karen New York) line in New York, launched its first store in 1999 at Madison Avenue and 60th in Manhattan. Known for their causality, the line holds its fashion shows for the ready-towear collections in the Fall and Spring shows. The fashion houses that are near the DKNY house are the Donna Karen and Anne Klein.
Slide 5: CALVIN KLEIN Calvin Klein founded the Calvin Klein Inc. in 1968 and emerged drastically as the top classic American designer. The most famous branch of the incorporation of the Calvin Klein house is the Calvin Klein Collection, where its headquarters are located in New York City. They design for women and men’s wears in all different areas; from casual, daily wears to formal, dressy wears. The related fashion houses with Calvin Klein are the other branches of the Calvin Klein Inc., the ck Calvin Klein and Calvin Klein Jeans.
Slide 6: PARIS Pari s is the most influential fashion capital of all in the world. The city is also known for great architects and food. The people can enjoy operas, dances and theatres in the city. It became to be the top fashion capital due to its history of the fashion fanatic royalties and grew to be the great interest in the people to start a new trend and fashion in the city. The city produced many famous designers and fashion houses which gained tremendous popularity all over the world. Paris is now the essential city to visit and learn fashion for the people with big dreams in the fashion industry. Karl Lagerfeld for The House of Chanel and Marc Jacobs of Louis Vuitton are one of the most top designers that made the brands more popular.
Slide 7: KARL LAGERFELD The House of Chanel, more commonly known as Chanel, was founded by Coco Chanel in France in the 1910’s. Chanel’s exquisite and luxury line has made them one of the most demanding brands of all time. Chanel has its fashion shows of the ready-to-wear and haute couture in Fall and Spring shows in Paris, France. The fashion houses in the area are Dior, Chloe and Louis Vuitton. Chanel is now under is chief designer Karl Lagerfeld.
Slide 8: MARC JACOBS Louis Vuitton is a luxury French brand founded by Louis Vuitton in 1854. It is tops in the number one spot in luxury brands of all time. Louis Vuitton holds its fashion shows in the Fall and Spring Paris Fashion Weeks along with Chanel. The fashion houses in the area are Dior, Givenchy, Chanel and Valentino. Marc Jacob took over the company as the creative director, and revolutionized the fashion industry.
Slide 9: MILAN Milan is a city located in Italy known for their famous Italian designers. Milan is one of the largest cities in Italy. Milan has famous recognition for its food, patriotism for sports, religion, and popular tourist sites, such as the Milan Cathedral, The Duomo, the third largest church in the world. The city has produced many luxury brands from various designers and became one of the fashion centrals of the world. Giorgio Armani and Gianni Versace have created a mega fashion empires from their fashion houses they created, Armani and Versace, respectively.
Slide 10: GIORGIO ARMANI Giorgio Armani is an Italian designer who created the Armani fashion house in 1975. It is claimed that he is the most successful designer from Italy by 2001. Armani has several different branches of designated fashion goods, from clothes, eyewear, jewelry, to leather goods and home interior. They create both casual and evening wears, just from different branches of the house. Armani Exchange, one of its branches created in 1991, sells casual clothing for both men and women. Emporio Armani sells more luxury clothing and luggage goods. The fashion houses near Armani are Versace, Prada, and Miu Miu. The brand holds its fashion shows in Milan for its Fall and Spring Ready-To-Wear collections and for its Resort collections. Giorgio Armani still directs for the whole Armani Company.
Slide 11: DONATELLA VERSACE Versace can be one of the biggest leading luxury fashion brands in the world along with Chanel and Gucci. Versace was commenced by the Italian designer, Gianni Versace, in 1978. This fashion brand makes leather goods, shoes, and clothes. Their headquarters are located in Milan, Italy. For its commencement in Milan, Italy, the fashion empire holds its fashion shows in the Milan Fall and Spring Ready-ToWear collections and also its Couture fashion shows. The fashion houses near Versace are Armani, Gucci, and Prada. Due to Gianni Versace's death in 1997, his sister, Donatella Versace took over the house as the vice president and its creative director, and his brother, Santo Versace, became the CEO of the Versace house.
Slide 12: LONDON architectures, and known for its recognition for the place to be for the wealthy. London is a beautiful city with many attractions and the largest urban area in the United Kingdom. The city is known for great sites for old English architectures, and urban gathering places, such as Leicester Square, where they hold world film premiers.. London’s architects bring attentions; the Palace of Westminster, Tower of London, and Tower Bridge are the noticeable attractions. But, it is also a fashion capital. London fashion is known for classic, casual and formal luxury clothing for people all around. Christopher Bailey of Burberry, and Alexander McQueen, London's McQ's founder has created London to spark as one of the classic and thrilling fashion capital. London has rich history, famous
Slide 13: CHRISTOPHER BAILEY Thomas Burberry founded Burberry Prorsum in London, England in 1856 when he was twenty-one years old. He has created a fashion mega house by creating the legendary Burberry's signature check mark, incorporating black, white and red stripes. The brand creates clothing, luggage, and other fashion goods. It shows its collections in Milan Fashion Week, for their Ready-To-Wear lines for Fall and Spring, and Resort lines. The fashion houses near Burberry house are McQ, and Stella McCartney. The Burberry house has made into a classic fashionable brand demanded highly by the people world wide to the present day. Christopher Bailey is the current creative director of Burberry.
Slide 14: ALEXANDER MCQUEEN Alexander McQueen is a creative English designer recognized world wide. He started as a chief designer for French Haute Couture House Givenchy in 1996 after John Galliano, now the creative director for the Dior house, and gained tremendous respect and interest from the fashion industry. Also, he is the creative director for Gucci's ready-to-wear collections, accessories and eyewear. McQueen created his own house, McQ in January 2006 for denim based clothing line for women, men and accessories. The house holds its fashion shows for the Ready-To-Wear collections in Paris for the Paris Fashion Week. The fashion houses near McQ are Burberry and Stella McCartney houses. Alexander McQueen has created himself as one of the leading roles in the industry's creative couture designers.
Slide 15: TOKYO Tokyo is the first Asian city to be recognized as a fashion capital. Tokyo is abundant with great cultural experience opportunities and modern culture of Japan. The young people have very radical styles, from punk to chic street styles, which inspired many people around the world. Tokyo is like the New York City of Japan, always busy and full of entertainment. There are many entertainments and street performances, and enjoy traditional sports, such as sumo tournaments. The capital of Japan is well known for its fashion sense of their people and great Japanese designers. The fashion trends of the Japanese are very radical from ages to ages; punk and neon based colors for the teens and young adults and classic and casual for the older ages. Designers Mori Hanae and Miyake Issei incorporated the Japanese traditional fashion with the Western fashion and showed the different element in fashion.
Slide 16: MORI HANAE Mori Hanae is one of the first designers to be recognized in Japan. She has transformed the Japanese clothing with a mix of haute couture fashion. She started to work in the fashion industry when she attended a design school in Japan and married to a family in the textile industry. Hanae started a private company to design clothes for limited costumers and theatrical companies. After she met Coco Chanel in 1960 she began her fashion business openly, pursuing for an haute couture. Mori Hanae’s first Ready-ToWear collection was shown in New York in 1965, and opened fashion boutiques in Tokyo. Her signature clothing is kimono inspired evening gowns and jackets. The fashion houses near Hanae house are Miyake Issei’s fashion house.
Slide 17: MIYAKE ISSEI accomplishments as a fashion designer. He studied fashion design in Japan and in Europe. He worked for Givenchy and Guy Laroche from 1966 through 1968 in Paris and Geoffrey Beene in New York City in 1969. As Issei’s fashion experience grew, he opened his own company the Miyake International Inc. in 1971. He showed his first collection in Tokyo and New York City in 1971 and in Paris in 1973. Miyake Issei also created design companies through out the world in France and the United States by 1982. His works are displayed on many museums and exhibits. The Issei house is near Mori Hanae’s house in Tokyo, Japan. Miyake Issei have made great
