MRI shows problems that may not be causing pain. It is clearly established that a very high percentage of adults - with NO back pain – would have significant problems on an MRI!

Slide 2: Minimal Invasive Procedures
Slide 3: • A minimally invasive medical procedure or minimal invasive surgery is a less-painful, less timeconsuming and efficient surgical procedure performed by inserting a sophisticated device to the target organ or structure through the skin or body cavity or an anatomical opening.
Slide 4: • A minimally invasive procedure or minimally invasive surgery has less operative trauma when compared to the invasive procedures. Unlike conventional surgeries where most surgeons cut along 3/4 to the full length of the mass to access it or remove it, and which require longer hospital stays and lengthy recovery period, a minimally invasive procedure causes very less damage. Also, it avoids longer hospital stays and lengthy recovery periods.
Slide 5: • Further, a minimally invasive procedure reduces the possible incidence of complication after the surgery (post-surgical complications). One problem that still persists even with minimally invasive procedures is that most of them still require general anesthesia to be administered prior to surgery.
Slide 6: Minimally invasive spine surgery or minimally invasive laser spine surgery
Slide 7: • Back pain, especially lower back pain is one of the common problems faced by many people in the US. This is now considered to be one of leading causes for increasing number of visits to the physicians. It is estimated that at least four out of five adults experience back pain at some point in their life time. A minimally invasive spine surgery or minimally invasive laser spine surgery is now considered to be one of the effective methods to treat back pain.
Slide 8: • One of such procedures is Discectomy and Neural Decompression (DND). It is a minimally invasive laser spine surgery performed both to diagnose and treat Inter-vertebral discs and Spinal Stenosis. The procedure is performed by inserting an endoscopic fiberoptic scope into a natural opening at the base of the spine through a small incision in the skin. The entire procedure is usually completed in just about 30 to 40 minutes, and the patients experience immediate relief.
