Slide 14: MONTH WISE APPROACH TO SUPPORTING EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING š FIRST MONTH: • This is a crutial period, especially the first week. • Mothers can easily doubt their milk supply whenever the baby cries. • “Wetness test” should help most mothers to clear their doubts. • Proper guidance and firm assurance has to be given to the mothers.
Slide 15: MONTH WISE APPROACH TO SUPPORTING EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING š SECOND MONTH: • During the first dpt-opv visit, the health worker weighs the child and assures the mother of the good weight gain. • Any baby on exclusive breastfeeds who has gained more than 500 grammes in one month period, can be assured tht the breastmilk supply is adequate.
Slide 16: MONTH WISE APPROACH TO SUPPORTING EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING
š THIRD MONTH: • During the second dpt- opv visit, weight gain of the baby. • Development in the baby should be assesed. • Confidence of the mother should be built to continue exclusive breastfeeding.
Slide 17: MONTH WISE APPROACH TO SUPPORTING EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING

Slide 19: MONTH WISE APPROACH TO SUPPORTING EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING š SIXTH MONTH: • Congratulate the achievement. mother on her unique
