Slide 51: Peritonitis In 1870, Doctor Thomas suffered a severe attack of Peritonitis Peritonitis is basically the inflammation of the “peritoneum” – which is a thin membrane that lines the inside of the abdomen and surrounds and supports the abdominal organs, such as the stomach and liver.
