Slide 1: ==== ==== Check this site out if you want to learn more about how to copywrite effective sales letters: http://copywritersleagueshop.com ==== ==== Creating effective sales copy is by far the most important aspect of Internet Marketing. Solid, effective web copywriting skills take time to develop and like everything else, practice makes perfect! However, the secret to successful web copywriting and more specifically sales copy is to master three basic principles. These principles apply regardless of your niche and are absolutely pivotal if you are to find success as an Internet marketer. Knowing Your Audience No matter how good your web copywriting skills are, knowing your audience is always the step to success when creating your sales copy. After all, you will never sell your service or product to someone who just does not want it. The key here is to identify your target audience by asking the following questions; Who will buy your product? What type of person will they be? How would they like to be addressed? Once you have ascertained who your buyer is, make use your knowledge and the various tools that are available online to discern the keyword phrases your potential customer will use when searching for your product. These should form the backbone of your sales copy. Grabbing Their Attention and Keeping it! Effective web copywriting grabs the attention of the reader right at the outset with an interesting and compelling headline. Weak headlines or titles are the biggest contributing factor to a high bounce rate (readers leaving your page immediately). It is important to remember that potential customers are looking for something that provokes their thought. A strong opening paragraph is as vital as an attention grabbing headline. Readers are interested in two things, the problem they have (their need) and the solution to that problem (the product). Therefore you sales copy should inform the reader that you understand their needs and can provide them with the solution. Pay attention to the 'voice' you employ. Remember how you identified the way your potential customer would like to be addressed? In general, a personable tone is most effective. Avoid sounding too authoritative or condescending but retain a professional air to your copy and personalise the reading experience by making use of 'you' and 'your'. Ensure your pages are aesthetically pleasing by breaking up long pieces of text with images, bullet points and sub-headings. Remember web copywriting is about appealing to the way online
Slide 2: readers scan and read around the page looking for things that interest them. Finally, sales copy must include an element of credibility building. Using testimonials is a good way to achieve this as is giving the reader anecdotal evidence. The Art of Persuasion There are many strategies you can employ in your web copywriting when attempting to convince or persuade the reader to purchase your products or services. People love a good deal. If they feel that they are getting something they need at a good price or that there is added value, they are more inclined to make a purchase. Offering a free gift or a cut price can prompt the reader to into action. Another common tactic frequently used in sales copy is conveying a sense of urgency. When you inform the reader that swift action will secure a lower price or guarantee availability they feel compelled to follow your call to action so they do not 'lose out'. You must give the reader a very clearly defined call to action. How will they know what to do next if you do not make it explicitly clear to them? Provide a link to your order page or to further instructions to ensure they have a clear next step to follow. Readers need to be put at ease about their purchase, they do not want to feel trapped and look for a 'get out clause' if your product does not live up to your claims. Your sales copy should always include some form of satisfaction guarantee that gives them the confidence to buy. To instill further confidence in you and your product ensure your contact information is clearly displayed. In Conclusion... Whatever your product or niche, these 3 basic principles will apply when creating effective sales copy. Effective web copywriting is, in general, a complex task and sales copy is the hardest form of all. There is no real secrets when it comes to web copywriting, just a complex 'must have' list of elements to incorporate into your copy.
