Rebuild projects in a Cyclone hit village

Slide 4: PHI found its team in Yangon and Bangkok
• Relief and aid groups were in doubtful situation after two weeks of cyclone • Raising funds from our friends around the Globe • Communicated with Yangon ground and frontline stuffs to check the tail of damages and needs thoroughly. • Learning that it’s a kind of National loss, we decide to help as a part of it.
Slide 5: The first trip of May 19
th
• The first trip was set off by May 19, 2008 along with ASSESSMENT AND SURVEY. • Opted out a village in the Ayerwaddy (known as Irrawady) Delta region among hopeless and desperate livings; Too-Myaung village at Dadeye township, across Pyapon river with the help of locals. • Delivered and contributed basic relief aid to the village, the very first relief aid for the villagers by May 19th 2008.

• Located on the crooked and maze like cannel from main Pyapon river • 1 hour ride by water way • Majority of villagers earned from rice farms, coconut, beetle nuts trades, and fishing • It has one primary school and one monastery (served as refugee camp during these days)

Slide 17: Successive following trips have been done so far. • 2nd trip on May 25th along with medical treatment on 120 victims, reconstructed the roofs on over school building, food and donation went on, pumped out salt water from 2 communal natural ponds • 3rd trip on June 4th, done the trip with construction project for communal water tank of 10 x 8 feet by concrete • 4th trip on June 13th, school uniforms for kids, writing materials and kits are delivered directly to school kids and teachers at the village.

• 5th trip is targeted in next weekends, Saturday • We’ll bring tables and chairs for school kids, paints to school buildings and wall.

• Shine a light of hope to villagers that they are worth living on. • The village is steady in physically and mentally from our strength and capability. • The whole achievement of this saving lives are not done alone.
Slide 28: Don’t let them thrown back!
• the villagers are gradually building their temporary huts and homes in the way they can. • But they are in difficult situation with their works. • We need to get them back on their works, if not status quo, they need to do something for living.

• In next round, we will try to bring tilling machine, tractors with us. So the farmers can be back on their works. • If chances and favors come, we will help in rebuilding their houses. To the villages nearby where we knew they are in need of such helps as well.
