While many businesses complained about the 2008 Christmas season, I was busy filling boxes with merchandise to mail to our customers. I would have loved to have written more articles, but the packages and boxes had to go out in the mail. We are actually looking forward to the 2009 Christmas season. We are hoping that we can increase our sales conversion rate next Christmas, because I will be writing more articles this year. I have found that people who come from Article Directories and social networking sites are much more motivated to buy our merchandise, than other traffic sources. We use Google Analytics to study where our traffic is coming from, and there is a growing proportion coming from Article Directories, including a growing number of traffic coming from EzineArticles. It also includes traffic that is coming from sites that have picked up my articles and posted the articles on their website or blog, with the resource box intact. The traffic from Article Directories also have a higher sales conversion rate (2%) than those coming from Search Engines (.05). Traffic from Article Directories are also higher motivated to buy than those from Search Engines. The benefit of websites picking up your articles from Article Directories. is that articles that are posted on other websites or blogs, increases the back links and therefore helps increase your Google Page Rank. This will increase your exposure on Google, and therefore increase traffic to your website. While traffic from search engines are invaluable, we are finding that Article Directories and social networking sites have higher sales conversion rates then search engines. We are spending much more of our time developing these social networking site for our small business. Hopefully, over the next few years we will be growing into a larger business.
