Slide 1: How to Know a Good Virtual Assistant from an Inefficient VA? When you interview a virtual assistant, you get many leads which let you know a lot about the persons approach to the job. These leads can tell how professional the person is. Likewise you get an idea about the person’s nature. Putting two and two together you get to know whether you have the right person or not. When the person introduces himself or herself to you, you can read a lot into his or personality. George Bowen, a travelling businessman, says through his personal experience that over the years he has interviewed two types of virtual assistant. Most of them, says Bowen, are hell bent in proving their worth right from the word go. What begins as a humble introduction slowly turns into boasting about their achievements. If not interrupted they may go on rattling their so called successes endlessly. Again there are others who come out with measured answers. Their answers are precise and would prefer to talk less about themselves unless goaded. This is not to say that talkative virtual assistants are inefficient. Nor can it safely be said that those who sound modest are competent. However, in most of the cases it can be assumed that a virtual assistant who goes out of the way to prove his/her worth or who agrees to any terms you impose on them will not be able to match your expectations in the long run. Likewise those who talk more about the work or about their approach in details mostly turn out to be better workers with ability to meet targets on time. So, to distinguish the competent from the incompetent, prepare a few tricky questions which can be used as bait to know more about the person. The inefficient one will bite it invariably and will spare you the trouble of roping in the wrong person for the job.
