Slide 1: Frugal Living Fridays: October 21st Edition Here we are, another Friday further into October and just that much closer to winter! This week, we’ve featured yet another top 5 money saving tips that you can start to apply at home, straight away. Monday’s transportation tip was how one should save opening their sun roof or moon roof for special occasions because your gas mileage reduces as a result. Nobody said you’d have to give up your sun roof altogether for the sake of frugal living, but everything in moderation is best course of action. Tuesday’s cleaning tip was a very practical one: how to clean running shoes. With only a few minutes taken to scrub the dirt off of your runners, you can breathe new life into your shoes and not have to replace them as quickly. Just be sure you don’t leave them to dry on a register or in the dryer as the soles will surely melt! On Wednesday, we talked about the oh-so frugal living friendly shepherd’s pie. But we weren’t talking about the regular old shepherd’s pie with ground beef and mashed potatoes on the top, we talked about all of the ways you can change up this old frugal favourite. Try sweet potatoes on top, ground lamb, turkey or braised beef. Add corn and chipotle for a little Mexican mix-up—get creative! Thursday‘s money saving tips was to remind you to have your annual routine maintenance done on your furnace or, at the very least, clean your furnace filter. Doing so now will save you a whole lot of money on heating this winter. And finally, Friday’s natural remedies tip was for hair loss. If you are experiencing unexplainable hair loss (i.e. it’s not hereditary), it could be the result of an iron deficiency. You should first have this verified by your doctor and then tweak your diet and start taking an iron supplement to get your levels back up where they should be. Stay tuned because next week’s Frugal Living Fridays report is guaranteed to be a goodie! Distributed by Thrift Culture Now. http://www.thriftculturenow.com
